name: logo-design
description: Design a logo that survives real use — a geometric symbol, a wordmark with the exact brand name spelled correctly (Latin or Cyrillic), or a monogram — plus its one-colour, knockout and small-size versions, using Ideogram and Nano Banana image generation through the Twelver MCP server. Use when the user asks for a logo, brand mark, wordmark, lettering, monogram, favicon or a starter brand kit (логотип, фирменный знак, шрифтовой логотип).

# Logo design

Most generated logos fail the same way: the prompt blends several logo styles into
one generic look. This skill picks **one** approach, writes out how the mark is
built rather than a mood, and tests the result at the sizes a logo actually
appears at.

## Connect the tools

Twelver runs one remote MCP server per toolset (Streamable HTTP, no local install):

- Ideogram 4.0: `https://twelver.ru/api/mcp/v1/ideogram-image-generation`.
Renders lettering correctly and can cut out transparent PNGs. Requires a
  Twelver Pro plan.
- Nano Banana: `https://twelver.ru/api/mcp/v1/image-generation`. Available on
every plan. Good for mockups and for editing an existing image; less reliable
  at spelling.

Use `twelver.app` instead of `twelver.ru` for accounts registered on
twelver.app. Auth is OAuth sign-in or `Authorization: Bearer sk-…` with a key
from `https://twelver.ru/api-keys`. Before the account's first purchase,
generated images carry a watermark and cannot be downloaded. Tell the user
this up front rather than after the tenth image.

## Tools

| Tool | Use it for |
|---|---|
| `ideogram-generate` | Marks and wordmarks; anything with letters |
| `ideogram-remove-background` | A transparent PNG of the approved mark |
| `ideogram-edit` / `ideogram-remix` | Changing one detail of an approved mark |
| `text-to-image` | Marks on the free plan; mockups (sign, cup, app icon) |
| `image-to-image` | Putting the approved logo onto a mockup without redrawing it |

## Procedure

1. **Brief in four answers:** the exact name (spelling, case), what the business
does in one sentence, who it is for, and one or two words for the character
(sturdy, playful, premium…). Do not generate before you have the exact name.
2. **Choose one direction** and say which:
   - *Symbol* (geometric, "like Apple or Nike"): one property of the business
reduced to circles, squares, lines. Write the idea as a single sentence. If
it needs two sentences, it is two logos.
   - *Wordmark*: the name itself, for names up to about 10 distinctive letters.
Long or generic names get a *monogram* (1–3 letters) plus the name in plain
     type.
3. **Prompt how the mark is built, not a mood.** "A scallop shell built from five
solid rounded rays fanning from one point" comes back as a designed mark. "A
minimalist shell logo" comes back as clip art.
   - Symbol: `brand identity logo symbol by a world-class identity studio,
[shapes, how many, how they meet], [one flat colour] on [flat background],
flat vector, no text, no gradients, no shadows, no 3D, centered, generous
     margins`, aspect 1:1.
   - Wordmark: `wordmark logo "EXACT NAME", [character] lettering, custom
letterforms, even tight spacing, solid black on white, flat vector, no
icon, no tagline`. Add **one** distinctive detail and say where it sits
("the descender of the у curls into a spiral"), not five tricks.
4. **Generate three options and read every letter** of each result before
showing it. A misspelled result is regenerated and never shown.
5. **Refine by removing.** Each round, ask what can go: even stroke weights,
   open counters, one colour.
6. **Deliver the set:** the main lockup; the mark or monogram alone for square
formats (avatar, favicon); a one-colour black version; a white version on the
brand colour; a transparent PNG via `ideogram-remove-background`. Name a
palette (one brand colour plus ink plus background, at most one accent) and
one free font family with Cyrillic if the brand needs it (Manrope, Inter,
   Onest, Golos Text, Montserrat).

## Pitfalls

- Category clichés (tooth, roof, globe, lightbulb, swoosh, gear, leaf) read as
clip art. If one is unavoidable, fuse it with the initial so it becomes
  ownable.
- Two ideas in one mark (a letter *and* a leaf *and* a cup) is the most common
  failure. Pick one.
- Thin lines and small details disappear at 32 px. Keep strokes at least about
1/12 of the mark's width. Generate the small version separately instead of
  shrinking the large one.
- Gradients, glow and bevels fail in one colour, on a stamp or in embroidery.
Effects belong to where the logo is placed, never to the logo itself.
- Long and Cyrillic names are where generators misspell. After two failures,
generate the lettering alone on a blank background and compose the rest
  separately.
- A stock font typed out is not a wordmark. The value is in the one custom
  detail and the spacing.

## Done when

One mark that is recognisable at 16 px and in one colour, a lockup with the name
spelled exactly, the square, one-colour and knockout versions, a transparent PNG,
and a named palette and companion font.
